So then one weekend, Paul and I decided to take Mackenzie on a camping trip for the weekend. We arranged for my sister to Pig-sit for us. She was to come over and feed them daily and just take care of them overall. The plan was beautiful. The weekend away from our piggies went just fine.
At the conclusion of the camping trip, when we arrived back home, we began unpacking the car. Snickers and Ginger were extremely happy to see me and as I was greeting them at their cage "something" darted across the other side of the cage. I SCREAMED and jumped back. "Crap! We have mice." Paul comes running in to she what is wrong.
I tell him and he lifts up the "pigloo" to find a surprise.....
BABIES!
Yep! 3 of them.
Tiny. Furry. Loveable. UNEXPECTED. Babies.
So evidently Miss Ginger was already expecting when we brought her home. Remember, our dear Mr. Snickers had gotten the snip.
Now the fears really began. Which of these babies are male?
Which are female?
Are we going to end up with a guinea pig farm?
We tried to make it work. We divided the monster cage into apartments. We separated all piggies. They were LOUD! They were eating way too much. It was a nightmare. All because Snickers needed a friend!
Long story shortened:
I posted the babies on Petfinder.com.
The rescue place found out.
I got reprimanded by them because of a contract I had signed.
Finally a solution...Another trip back to Texas to take ALL the piggies.
My piggie adventure was done.
ALL IN-----
a curse at times.
